this is where the tube plugs in that goes from the smoker to this diffuser.

💨 top down, is where the smoke tube enters in the bottom of the diffuser and blasts it upwards to the diffuser.

💨 side entry, is where the tube enters from the side and the smoke is bend into 90 degrees before it hits the diffuser, this is perfect to have the tube from your sleeve and the diffuser in the palm of your hand.
